Agenda
- Colin, as Competition Manager, provided a brief summary of the previous summer competition. It was noted that the objective last season was growth in numbers, and the standard of the playing competition. Both objectives were achieved with some notable growth at Rebels of over 40% in registrations.
- Congratulations was given to the Under 15 Competition Winners, Pirates
- Congratulations was given to the Under 12 Competition Winners, Rebels.
- It was noted that there is certainly room for improvement in this coming season and that we should closer align with the rules of baseball, and that rules aren’t made to suit individual clubs.
- Jaicob commented on needing to ensure that uniforms are adhered to, especially for the older age groups with some leniency for tball as players and parents may be new to the sport.
Committee Positions
- At this point, positions were declared vacant. Colin advised the meeting that he wanted to devote his time towards other aspects of the game, and that he wouldn’t put his name forward for Competition Manager again and so called on others to volunteer. Matt Carter nominated himself, and was seconded by Colin. Without any other nominations, Matt Carter was elected Competition Manager.
- There were no other positions to elect at the time. Matt suggested this be held over to the next meeting if others are interested or willing to contribute. Matt thanked Colin for all his efforts over the years as Competition Manager.
New Business
- Hannah advised the members of the RBI Zooka Tournament and there was some discussion on the timing (12 October 2025 at Watanobbi), and what was required for participation. Players can be of league age born in 2015 or 2016 to participate, but must already be registered to play in summer for the purposes of insurance coverage.
- It was agreed on the below dates:
- All ages: Competition Start: 19 October 2025
- U10/U12/U15 Competition Pause: 21 December 2025
- Tball Competition Concludes: 21 December 2025
- U10/U12/U15 Competition Restart: 1 February
- U10/U12/U15 Competition Concludes: 1 March 2025
- Finals for U12 and U15 will be as per previous seasons where the two top ranked teams as of 22 February will play for the Championship. Other teams will play a consolation game.
- Aaron started a discussion on the CCBA capitation fees for tball age, especially now that the tball age group will only be a ten week competition. Matt agreed that CCBA would look to consider a reduction for this age group and would advise the clubs ASAP.
- Due to the planned facility upgrades at Watanobbi commencing early 2026, it is anticipated that the grounds will not be available for competition. As a result, the Competition Manager will look to balance the Home/Away games where practical which will likely result in most games being played at Watanobbi pre Christmas so that all clubs benefit with canteen revenue etc.
- Jaicob also noted the excellent canteen efforts from Pirates and Rebels/Wildcats in the previous season.
- It was agreed that the next meeting would be held on 25 August at 6.30pm.
