RBI Tournament

  1. Given the challenges we have with Zooka machines locally, we can proceed with the tournament being ‘coach pitch’. The RBI tournament rules already provide for this change. MC to contact RBI to confirm tournament proceeding on this basis.
  2. Opportunity/challenge regarding canteen operation on the day. In anticipation of 16 teams participating, plus supporters, there are a large number of mouths to feed on the day. The opportunity was put to the members on how to staff the canteen, and share the revenue generated. Bears declined the invitation. It was then decided that Rebels would investigate further, and if Rebels offered to pick it up if Rebels declined.
    1. At the time of writing these minutes (26/8), Rebels have confirmed they will operate the canteen (BBQ/Drinks) on the day.
  3. It was requested that teams participation be confirmed within the next two weeks (13/9) to RBI. RBI needs time to promote to other Sydney metro teams. Preference will be given to CCBA/Newcastle teams in the first instance. Rebels and Wildcats indicated they will have one team each to participate in each age group (U10 and U12).
  4. RBI have listed League Ages/DOB for registration. We have suggested that younger aged players could participate so long as they have the appropriate skills, but we shouldn’t consider extending the age higher (as has happened historically in our local leagues).
  5. Players do need to be registered to play prior to the tournament commencing for insurance purposes as it is a sanctioned event with Baseball NSW.
  6. Lunchtime entertainment is also an opportunity if anyone has any rock bands (or similar) eager to perform in front of ~200-300 people for a 30min set.

Development Training

  1. CCBA will launch a new training program for any interested players aged 6-15. The program will be in blocks of four weeks focused on a particular group of skills. For example;
    1. Camp 1: Hitting/Agility/Base Running
    2. Camp 2: Outfield/Throwing
  2. Cost will be $40 for each camp. Includes a training tshirt.
  3. Venue will alternate between BBP/Watanobbi on a Monday night (to avoid training nights with clubs).
  4. The program initiative is being driven by Scott McBeath and will include other coaches (TBA).
